When all you can do is wait

Some more thoughts about job hunting (because this takes up most of my time and focus right now). Looking for a job is not easy. It takes time, it takes energy and a lot of patience. For some, finding a job goes fast and easy, but that’s not the case for everyone, especially when you’re applying for positions that requires more experience. I have been in Stockholm since the beginning of October and even though I’ve had some interviews and interesting possibilities, nothing has come of it yet.

There is one position that I really want and that I’m still in the running for. I had my first interview 3,5 weeks ago, then a second one where I got to meet the whole team, and yesterday I sent them some assignments they wanted me to work on (to show my writing skills). Now all I can do is wait, be patient and hope that they choose me. But how do you stand out among the rest of the competition? You want this so badly and wish you could do more, but eventually all you can do is wait and hope for the best. You can’t send an insane amount of e-mails where you say you really want this and hope they’ll hire you, even though you want them to know how motivated you are. That you really want this. Eventually all you can do is wait.

I have done everything I can do now. After my first interview, I instantly felt that I wanted this position even more, so I was really happy when they selected me for the next step, and then the next step. Now I don’t think there’ll be any more steps. Now all I can do is cross my fingers and hope for the best.
